05 Dec December: Shopping small, saying thank you and telling stories
Welcome to December. This month I am thinking about shopping small, saying thank you and telling stories.
If you are on my Mailing List you will have already read about my ‘shopping small’ story. But here it is.
Its beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. I put my tree up on Friday night and decorated it with my growing collection of decorations. In my collection are some lovely pieces by Irish based designers like KaroArt, Jenny Walsh and ones that my amazing friend Pip made. And I love that each one has a story to them.
I want to talk a little bit about stories. About shopping small as I say.
This Christmas when you are making up your list think about quality over quantity. When you shop from a small business, a one woman shop like myself, we totally and completely appreciate your business. As TheAnthropologyofGiving put it so well ” When you buy from a small business an actual person does a happy dance”
Think small NOT big. Shop in your local town, buy from your favourite artist or designer and look out for local markets and craft fairs. You might end up paying a little bit more money wise but what you get in return is so much more. You are getting a beautiful handmade piece, often one of a kind, and you are getting a story. A story of how it was made, of knowing exactly WHO made it and WHERE it was made.
If you would like to take advantage of this months Mailing List loyalty offer just sign up to my Mailing List here to get 12% off anything in my shop. When you are on the Mailing List, each month you get a different special offer. And I don’t spam you with emails, at most two a month.

In honour of John Lennon who died this month 26 years ago. His lyrics always seemed that they were poetry in disguise
